About the BCPA Dance Company...
The BCPA Dance Company is for the serious student who wishes to make dance & the performing arts their top extra curricular priority, take their training to the next level, and are technically, physically, and mentally prepared to do so.
The BCPA Dance Company is developed to create a positive environment where dancers can grow as performers and teammates, as well as increase their self-esteem, self-discipline, and pride in their accomplishments. Company dancers will improve their dance & vocal technique, discover their strengths, learn how to overcome weaknesses and refine their character through challenges and triumphs. At BCPA we value the process, not just the reward at the end, and we encourage our dancers to appreciate all accomplishments, no matter how small. We have their long term future in mind.
We view the competition as a way of topping your personal best, and do not focus on beating other teams. We will spend a great deal of time not only on technique, but on team building and goal setting. We feel that learning how to cooperate on a team is a lifelong skill to be used not only in the performing arts, but in any career path as well as in life itself. Since it is our goal to instill a passion for performing rather than merely the desire to win awards, Company dancers will also have performance opportunities outside of competitions. They will perform at community events and special BCPA occasions, as well as, of course, our Annual Spring Showcase.
In order to participate in our Company, dancers must be technically, physically, and mentally prepared. The BCPA Dance Company is cast by audition or invitation only by the BCPA Faculty.
Our solid reputation for quality reflects our attitude toward competition and our goal to develop in each dancer a genuine respect for dance as an art form. We consider participation in competitions not simply part of our students’ training as dancers; it’s also an important part of how we influence them as people. We believe that members of our Dance Company will not only grow as dancers but also grow as individuals and thereby realize, achieve, and exceed their true potential as artists.
